Obituary
Late Ralph T. Day, Sr. Well Known In Dexter Word has been received from Alton, Ill., of the death of Ralph T. Day, Sr., who made many friends in Dexter while he was here as an inspector at the Fay-scott Corporation for the Remington Arms Co. during World War II. Complications developed after a heart operation in August and he failed to rally, dying at a St. Louis, Mo., hospital on Sept. 13 at the age of 56 years. While in Dexter he and his family lived on Forest st., in the Mrs. Georgia Palmer house and one summer occupied a cottage on Lake Wassookeag. An electrician by trade, Mr. Day was at one time city electrical inspector in Alton. For some years he had worked for the Laclede Steel Co. and also as inspector for several plants manufacturing arms and ammunition. After an illness which necessitated his retirement he established a radio and electrical repair business. Ill health obliged him to discontinue this endeavor but when he recovered he became clerk and driver for an Alton library's Book Mobile until last May, when illness made any work impossible. He was an ardent hunter and fisherman and active in the Masonic Order. He is survived by his widow, two sons, his mother, a brother and three sisters.
