WILLLIAM E. HAYDEN Funeral services for Ed Hayden, 85, were held Saturday afternoon at the Garland Community Baptist Church with lay preacher, Frederick Marsh of Corinna, officiating. Garland Grange attended in a body. Bearers were Henry Higgins, Robert Thomas, Orman Burrill and Frederick Olson. Burial was at the West Garland Cemetery. Mr. Hayden died suddenly Sept. 4. He was born March 28, 1872 at Brighton, the son of Christopher Columbus and Ellen Morrison Hayden. He was a farmer who had lived in several other towns before moving to Garland a number of years ago. He was a member of Garland Grange No. 76. Survivors are his wife, Minnie Hoyt Hayden; a brother, Bud Hayden of Abbot; three sisters, Mrs. Lula Leavitt of Dexter; Mrs. Emma Smart of Sangerville, and Mrs. Maude Dorr of Guilford; a son, Christopher Columbus Hayden of Garland; four daughters, Mrs. Ellen Flanders of Surry, Mrs. Lillian Packard of Cambridge, Mrs. Thelma Murphy of McNeil's Mills, P. E. I. and Mrs. Clara Gray of Newport; 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
