Obituary
Rites Held For Mrs. Ryan, 103 Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Corinna Methodist Church for Mrs. Emma Ryan, 103, who died Friday, Aug. 30, at the Plummer Memorial Hospital. The widow of G. C. Ryan, she was a resident of Dexter for many years but for the past 34 years had made her home in Corinna with her daughter, Mrs. Angie Moore. The Rev. Frederick Niles of Wilton officiated, assisted by the Rev. Leonard W. Bucklin of the Corinna Methodist Church. Members of Wassookeag Chapt. No. 44, 0. E. S. of Dexter attended and conducted their service. Mrs. Ryan being the last charter member of this chapter. Bearers were: John Bird, Fred Gray, Richard Jones, Paul Perkins, John Pinkham, all of Corinna; and George Perkins of Newport. Burial was in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. She was born in Guilford, May 3, 1854, daughter of Hiram and Emmaline (Dunning) Hatch. She came to Dexter at the age of nine and attended Dexter schools. Mrs. Ryan and her husband operated a dry goods store in Dexter for many years, and she was a milliner and dressmaker. She was a charter member of Wassookeag Chapter No. 44, 0. E. S., of Dexter; was the oldest member of the First Universalist Church, Dexter, and an associate member of the Corinna Methodist Church. Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Dr. Charles S. Ryan, Dexter veterinarian; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
