DEXTER- Betty Lou Bennett, 82, passed away at her home with her family by her side on May 31st, 2025. Betty was born in Dexter on November 25th, 1942, a daughter of Elmer and Vivienne Easler. She graduated from Dexter Regional High School, class of 1961. She was a member of numerous societies throughout her life, the Jaycettes, Dexter Fire Department, the Auxiliary, and Jr. Auxiliary. She also worked at Dexter Shoe Co. and Reny’s in Dexter. Born with a mighty big heart and an unwavering love for her family, Betty lived a life full of kindness, joy, and dedication to those she cherished most. Betty was the heart of her home and family. She had a talent for making everyone feel welcome, often expressing her love through cooking- especially sweets- and always having a treat ready for visitors. Her chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting was a family favorite as well as her molasses cookies. She always enjoyed hosting family gatherings, and traveling to her grandchildren’s sporting events. Betty found joy in the simple pleasures, going to camp, picking raspberries, and spending time with her family. She loved taking the side-by-side out and enjoying the trails in the summer months. Crafting was another favorite pastime- she was always sewing, especially around Christmas time, when she made beautiful tree angels. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved siblings Wendall and Sarah Easler formerly of Brooksville, FL and her brother-in law James McDaniel also of Brooksville, FL and Dexter. She leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years Gayland “Sonny” Bennett. Her sons, John Bennett and his wife Tamara of Dexter, Trent Bennett and his wife Cherlyn also of Dexter. Her daughter, Robin Mountain and her husband Edward of Mart, TX. Her brother, Dale Easler and his wife Jeanette of Dexter, Her sisters Elaine McDaniel of Dexter, Valerie MacDonald and her husband Robert of Guilford. Her eight grandchildren, John, Jade, Wyatt, Chelsea, Whitney, Keisha, Kiana, and Keira. She was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren, Aurora, Adalyn, Jacksin, Izabella, and Noah. Betty’s legacy lives on through her family and all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished deeply and missed beyond measure. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter, Maine on Saturday, June 7th, at 10am.
