RIPLEY - Anthony R. Sambito, "Bob", passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2025 at his home in Ripley, Maine. He was born in Lowell, MA, the son of Anthony R. Sambito Sr. and Madeline (Olson) Sambito. He graduated from Westford Academy calls of 1970, Westford, MA. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1971 and served his country for 20 years. While in the Navy he traveled to the Mediterranean, South America, and the Middle East. After retirement from the military, Bob held security jobs at Guilford of Maine and Dexter Shoe Company along with operating his own Four Seasons Home Security business where he maintained camps and lawn care for seasonal homes around the Dexter area. He enjoyed snowmobiling on the ITS trails in Maine, camping at Maine State campgrounds, and fishing on Moosehead Lake and Lake Wassookeag. He was an active volunteer in the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club and the Ripley Trail Riders Snowmobile Club. As a member of the Dexter Kiwanis Club, he took part in their Hooked on Fishing program, the annual Cruise-in, and the Doughboys' sales. he also grilled many hot dogs at the Dexter's Annual Red Hot Dog Festival. He took great pride in maintaining his own lawn and both his daughters' lawns. He was jokingly called "the Lawn Ranger" and he could be seen riding around the neighborhood on his John Deere tractor. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Paula Sambito, of Ripley, daughter Ann Babine of Ripley, daughter Julie Farnsworth and husband Sean of Ripley; sister, Martha Jennings and husband Rick of St. Albans; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Peter and Val of Cambridge; granddaughter Katelynn Babine of Ripley; niece Melissa Roberts and husband Jeremy of Corinna; nephew Eric Jennings and Ashley of Suffolk, VA; nephew Kyle Jennings and wife LeeAnn of Hudson, NH; and many cousins. He was deceased by his parents, Anthony and Madeline Sambito. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 10, at 10 am at the First Universalist Church of Dexter, located at 11 Church St., Dexter, Maine 04930.
