DEXTER-David E. Roundy, 84, died peacefully on April 8, 2025, in Pittsfield. David was born on June 3, 1940, in Newport, Maine. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, retiring after twenty years of active service. He also served in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve for over ten years and really enjoyed his time serving in the military. He received a certificate of high school achievement from the State of Texas and also took off campus classes from Chapman College, Orange, CA. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, restoring antique tractors and trucks, wood turning and tending to his lawn. He loved his family very much. He owned and operated with his wife Janet, both the Log Cabin Restaurant and Christie's Campground in Newport for several years, and D.E. Roundy Trucking. David was a member of the American Legion, Maine Antique Tractors Club, and the Eastern Maine Wood Turners Club. David was an inspiration to many and would be happy and proud to be remembered as a hardworking man. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Roundy of Dexter; children: David Roundy Jr. and wife Adrienne of Dixmont, Elizabeth Atma of Atkinson, NH, Jonathan Leal and wife Paula of Bradenton, FL, and Jeremy Leal and wife Lisa of Dexter; grandchildren: Benjamin Roundy and wife Lisa, Melony Fitts and husband Simon, Alex Philbrick and husband Brian, Seth Roundy and wife Adriane, Hannah Atma, Isabel Atma, Zachary Leal, Mackenzie Leal, Jocelyn Leal, and Cassandra Leal; great-grandchildren: Kenlee, Emersyn, Jackie, Madeleine, Ava, Bentley, Chanel, Skylar, Brooks, Hayden, Joey, Summer, Audrey, Cooper, Tucker, Owen, and Peyton; great-great-grandchildren: Ella, Jack, and Celine; siblings: Charles "Chuck" Roundy of Westbrook, Maurice Roundy and wife Jane of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Eve Fournier and husband Dan of Vermont, and Elizabeth Higgins and husband Jeffrey of Dexter and Lakeland, FL. He was predeceased by his mother, Mabel Gould Stevenson; and his stepfather, Kenneth Stevenson. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A gathering will follow at the Broken Putter and all are welcome. A private family committal will be held at a later date in the Maloon Cemetery, Grant Road in St. Albans.
