Obituary
Dexter - Elizabeth "Betty" McKusick (Perez) Plummer, 91, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at home with her family by her side. Betty was born on July 6, 1933, in Cambridge, Maine. She was the daughter of Harl McKusick and Helen (Wallace) Vachon. Betty was predeceased by her first husband, John Perez Jr.; her daughter, Ginger Perez Kilcher; her parents; and her husband, Philip Plummer. Betty is survived by her children, Margie Perez Panetta (Peter), Jennie Perez Mango (Paul), Lisa Perez McKusick (Mark), and John Perez (Michelle); son-in-law, Paul Kilcher; her 11 grandchildren, Justin Mango (Fabiolla), Janina Mango, Gabrielle Condon (Christopher), Dalton Grant (Caitlin), Paul R. Kilcher, Jordan Perez, Stephanie Perez, Angela Dorman (Kenneth), Elizabeth Moskovitz, David McKusick, and John Golden; her 7 great-grandchildren, Gianna Cagnina, Lucas Mango, Leonardo Mango, Cameron Condon, Robert Dorman, Gunnar Moskovitz, and Elle Moskovitz; her sister, Mary McKusick Cookson; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Perez (Joe), Dolores Vandresar, and Joan Perez; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty graduated from NH Fay High School in Dexter, Maine, and attended the University of Maine in Orono, where she would meet the love of her life, John Perez Jr. They wed in 1956 and lived in Okinawa and New York. John became an attorney and Betty oversaw his law practice in Schenectady. After John's passing in 1979, Betty worked for MTI, the National Judicial College, and The Lawrence Group. She was a member of the New York State Legal Professionals Association. Betty later married Philip Plummer, and they shared their time between Schenectady, NY, and Abbott, Maine. Betty loved her family beyond anything else. Her sweet spirit lit up the room and her kindness to all was her superpower. She was always smiling, was an amazing cook, and made the best biscuits around. To honor our sweet mom and Nana, just hug your family and friends and tell them you love them. The family would like to share their profound gratitude to those that made a tremendous difference in her life and care including Selena Fogg, Rebecca Dill, CNA, Ashley Emery, RN, Northern Light Home Care & Hospice, and Margo and Bobby Titus. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 117 Maine St., Newport, where condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at crosbyneal.com.
