Obituary	RIPLEY-Muriel Irene Cooney, 78, died peacefully on October 7, 2024, in Dover-Foxcroft. Muriel was born on September 20, 1946, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Alex and Dorothy (Dew) Dyson. She loved reading, crocheting, sewing and completing jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid gardener; growing both vegetables and beautiful flowers. She always looked forward to her annual Florida visits with family. She supported her community and was a member of the Ripley Homemakers Extension, the Ripley Craft Class, and the Red Hat Society. She was also a former Ripley Ramblers 4H Leader. Muriel was voted most quiet in her high school class and will be remembered for being a kind, soft spoken person, always putting others before herself. She is survived by her daughter, Eileen Martin and husband Tracy; son, Peter Gawrych; grandsons, Hunter Martin and Jacob Gawrych; brother, Thomas Dyson and wife, Christiane; several nieces and nephews; and a special companion, Lester Summerhill and his children, Dorie and Ira. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Hugh Cooney Jr; and brother, Donald Dyson. A private committal will be held by the family in the Ferndale Cemetery, in Ripley, Maine.
