Obituary	DEXTER - Michael A. McEwen, 70, passed away on September 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a short battle of pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 10, 1954 in Augusta, ME, the son of Dermith and Marilyn McEwen. He was a graduate of Piscataquis High School class of 1972, employed at Dexter Shoe for 29 years and at Piscataquis County Jail, retiring as a Cpl. Corrections Officer. He had the honor of being named CIT Corrections Officer of the year in 2007. Mike loved to bass fish with his wife and friends, ice fish, hunting, skeet shooting, ATV riding. He was Vice President of the Big Pine Gun Club and enjoyed helping out with the Youth Foundation, and was a member of the Parkman Prowlers ATV Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Denise (Doncet) McEwen; he was a proud father and grandfather to sons, Travis (Phobe), Spencer (Katy); daughter, Abbie (Matt); granddaughters, Ava and Mabel whom he adored; and his dog Bustah; great nephews and nieces, aunts, cousins and Dee's family who were very close to their Uncle Mike and many friends too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his parents; niece, Cherie Palmer, aunt, uncles and cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Lodato and his staff for everything they did for Mike over the past 3 months and to the amazing hospice staff, Ashley, Becca, Nicole and Emma for the care, compassion and support they gave to Mike and his family to the end and for all the visits, phone calls, cards, texts, food, flowers, gift cards and money. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 10th from 12-3 PM at the VFW Hall in Dexter, 20 Cedar Street. He will be forever loved and missed and his memory will be cherished by all. Mike's motto was always, "Shoot straight."
