Obituary
Karen Clark Staffeld, 63, of Dexter, passed away suddenly at her home on September 5, 2024. Karen was born on September 8, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts to parents John Staffeld Sr. and Dianne (Rintz) Staffeld. Growing up in Connecticut, Karen graduated from Branford High School before continuing her education at Skidmore College, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree. She then went on to Hunter College, receiving her master's degree in social work. Karen spent her young adulthood in New York where she started her career as a social worker. She spent her time there helping many people, enjoying her friends and family, and meeting her future wife, Carol. Then they decided to leave the city life behind and start a quieter and simpler life in the heart of Maine. They enjoyed many happy years together there. Karen continued to work in the social work field and pursued her dream of having her own practice. In her free time, she was an avid needleworker, baker, and reader. She also loved quilting and was a part of a quilting group. She loved dearly and took great care of her precious kitties. Karen is predeceased by her parents, and wife, Carol Thomson. She is survived by her brother John Court Staffeld Jr. (Chris Pagani) of N. Fort Myers, FL; sister Carolyn Martino (Anthony) of Wilmington, NC; nieces Jessica Bowling (Chris) of Crawfordville, FL, Nicole Staffeld of Ingleside, TX, Dana Staffeld of Spring Hill, FL, Sarah Martino of Wilmington, NC; and nephews Christopher Martino of Branford, CT and Andrew Martino of Columbia, MD. A graveside service for Karen and her wife Carol will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11AM at the Sunrise Section of the Thomaston Village Cemetery on Dwight Street, Thomaston, Maine. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Karen's name to the Somerset Humane Society Animal Shelter, PO Box 453, Skowhegan, ME 04976. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
