Obituary
Garland - Alton S. Webber, 80, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on August 16, 2024. Alton was born on February 18, 1944, the 16th child of George Ivery Webber and Susie Etta (Parsons) Webber. He attended Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston and spent his early working life primarily as a woodsman, before joining and retiring from the US Postal Service after more than 25 years of service. His pride and joy was his large family, extended family and friends. Alton had a deep love of the outdoors, enjoying camping, fishing and hunting, sharing these special moments with his children, grandchildren, brothers and friends (most especially their family moose hunting trips). Sundays would find many enjoying his traditional Sunday Dinners at the family homestead sharing stories and always filled with laughter and love. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wanda (Green) Webber of Garland; children, Melissa Norris and her husband Bob of Newport; Daniel Webber and his wife Danielle of Topsfield; Nichole Wing and her husband Elmer of Garland; Billie-Joe Toso and her husband Mark of Lisbon, ND. Grandchildren Christopher, Bryce, Daniel, Kady, Eva, Emma, Elizabeth, Markie and Tyler. Great grandchildren Audra; Adeline Leann; Andrew; Adeline Kay; Noah; Aurora and Ryatt. His brothers Manford Webber and wife Nora of Willamantic; Glenwood Webber and wife Kathy of Garland; Gardiner Webber and wife Gloria (Dodie) of Dexter; Leroy Webber and wife Barb of Newfoundland, Canada; and William Webber and Linda of Garland. He was predeceased by his parents; his sisters Ruby, Rilla and Barbara; and brothers Gordon, Merville, Renview, Vernie, Ivery, Forrest, Harland and Allen. Alton also leaves behind many very special nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and lifelong friends. He truly appreciated the many calls, cards, visits and all the efforts made to help him over these past few weeks. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family would also like to say a special thank you to Amanda Young, PA for her incredible dedication to our father and her support to the family. A graveside service will be held at the Hathaway Cemetery in Garland on Friday, August 23rd at 2:00 pm immediately followed by a celebration of life at the Garland Community Baptist Church.
