Obituary
DEXTER- Richard Whiting Frank (72), passed away April 1st, 2024. Richard was born October 14th,1951. A son to Marie R. and Russell G. Frank. His family lived in Trumbull, Connecticut before moving to Monroe, Connecticut where his mother would become a schoolteacher. The family made many happy memories camping together through the years, Richard utilized some of the experience in becoming an Eagle Scout. He attended Masuk High School in Connecticut where he was a keen student. Richard was awarded a scholarship to attend his senior year at the Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, where he graduated. He later enrolled at Clark University for a year before enlisting in the Air Force. After his military service, he continued his education at Eastern Connecticut State. A lifelong devotee of military history, he furthered his studies at Case Western Reserve where his specialty was museum studies. He spent most of his professional life working as a civilian employee of the Army Museum system, where he researched and curated exhibits. He worked in several Army museums, from the Rock Island Arsenal Museum, and the Watervliet Arsenal Museum, to the Frontier Army Museum in Leavenworth before finishing his career at the Fort Meade Museum. Richard retired to Dexter, Maine where he became active in fostering Basset Hound rescue dogs. He fostered many over the years and would often end up adopting them himself. He also spent many years driving for Meals On Wheels and would distribute pies on the holidays. Richard is survived by his sister Marilyn Frank, his brother Bruce Frank and wife Karen, as well as his nephew Russell Frank and wife Katie. He is also survived by many cousins in the Hohn and Muldoon families. He was a kind and generous brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New England Basset Hound Rescue, or your local animal shelter.
