Obituary
Dexter - Kenneth R. Leonard, also known as Ray, the husband of Andria Leonard, died peacefully February 25, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born April 15, 1940, in Sangerville, a son of Kenneth and Matilda Leonard. Having grown up in Sangerville, he graduated from Guilford High School in 1959. He was employed by Fay & Scott Landis in Dexter. He joined the Army Reserves and had to leave for basic training during that time of employment. When he returned he was employed by the Dexter Shoe Company where he worked for many years and served as a substitute mail carrier. That position became full time for 18 years. Ray retired after 49 years of faithful work. Since his retirement he enjoyed working in the yard around his home and planting flowers. He also enjoyed his 238 acres of wooded land from which he got his own wood for his home, sold wood to different mills and also sold house lots. He had a great interest in helping others and especially loved his children and grandchildren. He was always doing for them. Ray and Andria were predeceased by a baby son, Stephen Ray. In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his children, Catherine Romanick and husband, Patrick, of Georgia, Jeffrey Leonard and wife, Shiela, of Rockland; several grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Covey of Sangerville; a brother, Sheldon Leonard and wife, Joanne, of Florida; and nieces, nephews, and many cousins. The family also appreciated the wonderful care team at Amedisys and Beacon Hospice. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Full Gospel Church of Exeter, 1741 Exeter Road, Exeter, ME 04435. Those who wish may leave written condolences at CrosbyNeal.com.
