Obituary
Dexter - Marylou Wheeler, 90, passed away peacefully February 1, 2024, in Bangor with her family present. She was born May 3, 1933, in Dexter, a daughter of Harold and Alice (Greeley) Bailey. Marylou graduated from N. H. Fay High School in Dexter and went on to be a member of the first graduating class at Eastern Baptist College in Pennsylvania. Shortly after graduating from college, she returned to Dexter and married the love of her life and husband of nearly 61 years, the Rev. Harold Wheeler. Marylou was deeply committed to God, her husband and children, and the five churches they served in Dexter, Brunswick, Connecticut, Old Town and New Hampshire. They served in many more churches in an interim capacity after retirement. They both enjoyed many happy years living in and remodeling the home where she was born in Dexter, and friends were always welcome. She was a very patient wife, enduring a three-year kitchen remodel without complaint. Their marriage was a model for many couples. She is survived by her sons, Dr. David and wife, Sally, and Dan and wife, Ann Marie; 4 grandchildren, Eli, Elizabeth, Dan and wife, Kimberly, and Nicky and her fiancé, Emilio Martinez; and 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Henry. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Wilma, Eunice and Erma Lois. The family would like to sincerely thank their dear friends, Skip and Bea, Rick and Sharron, and many other friends and neighbors who helped and looked after them. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 10, at New Hope Baptist Church, 130 Spring Street, Dexter. Spring burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Baptist Church. Those who wish may leave written condolences at CrosbyNeal.com.
