Obituary	Dexter - Charles Frederick Fish was born May 18, 1948, to Llewellyn Wilson and Shirley Belle (Johnson) Fish with the sole purpose of helping those in need and tantalizing those he loved most with noogies and teasing. One thing is for sure; you never knew what he would say next. His loving wife, Caroline, of 53 years, fell for his wisecracks every time. "Charlie, are you alright?" "No," and Carol would run to his side as he continues to reply, "I am half left". It is with incredible sadness we report that Charlie's battle with cancer has concluded on December 14, 2023. It was a warrior's battle that he fought bravely, refusing to accept defeat right up to the end. He did not face this battle alone and was surrounded by his loving family. It was the least we could do for a man that dedicated his life and ringtone to his family. With every call his phone announced, "That's My Job" by Conway Twitty. After graduating from Dexter Regional High School in 1968, he began his warrior training in the U.S. Army in 1968. He retired after 26 years of service, split between active duty, Reserves, and the National Guard. After retiring he joined the American Legion. He spent 20 years as a Dexter Fire Department and Ambulance crew member. He loved music and, at the protest of his children, was often heard singing, slightly off key, along with the radio. That cringeworthy past time led him to learn to play the guitar and become the vice president of the Central Maine Country Music Association. His off-key singing must have improved because he was asked to join the church choir. Charlie graduated from Beal College with his associate degree in accounting in 2007. He will be greatly missed, noogies and all, by his grandchildren, Devyn Robinson and Bethany Robinson. To our chagrin, his ceaseless whit and prankster ways have rubbed off on his great-grandson and namesake, Jayce Charles Robinson. Jayce and "Bampy" became the best pals, sharing their love of jump scaring the unsuspecting passerby and witty comebacks. He is survived by his wife, Caroline (Tenney) Fish; daughter, Liz and husband, Shawn; son, Chuck and wife, Tina; son, Ryan and wife, Yennifer; and too many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends, including John and Sarah Sprague and Scott Wilson. Our lives will never be the same. He was predeceased by 3 brothers: Linwood, Kenneth and Bradley. A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined. Burial will be in the Mt.
