Obituary
Ripley - Rodney Farrar, 91, died October 13, 2022, at an Orono health care facility. He was born September 8, 1931, in Ripley at home on the family farm, a son of Chester and Gertrude (Stone) Farrar. He attended Ripley and Dexter schools graduating from N.H. Fay High School, then attended Wentworth Institute in Boston studying architecture. Rodney served two years in the U. S. Air Force stationed at Dow Air Force Base. He married the former Marita Bunker in 1953. During his life he was a carpenter, a teacher in the building trades, and a building inspector for the federal government. Rodney was a member of the Ripley United Methodist Church and was very active in Ripley town government having served as selectman and treasurer. He also served on the school board. He was considered by many people to be one of the "town fathers." He enjoyed many pleasurable hours playing card games with family and friends. His hobby was cutting wood. He is survived by his wife, Marita; daughter, Pamela; son, Timothy and wife, Rhonda; grandchildren, Erin Morrissette and husband, Arthur, Evan Dudzik and wife, Whitney, Katelyn Owens and husband, Matt, Ross Dudzik and wife, Carli, Christopher and wife, Casey; great-grandchildren, Olivia Owens, Kyler Morrissette, Scarlett Owens, Addilyn Owens and Sawyer Dudzik; several nieces and nephews. Rodney was predeceased by his sister, Virginia Ellms. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter, with the Rev. Vicki Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley. Memorial donations may be made to Spirits Place Rescue, P.O.
