Obituary
DEXTER - Ivery G. Webber, 93, died peacefully June 15, 2022, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. Ivery served in the Merchant Marines in World War II, transporting troops to Okinawa and Luzon. He also served as a pastor of the Full Gospel Mission in Dexter for 18 years. During those years he volunteered time to the Dexter Ambulance transporting people to hospitals. Over the years he held many jobs in local woolen mills, was a woodsman, drove trucks for Kenneth Grant transporting milk for local farmers and later drove trucks for Dexter Bottling Works delivering bottles of soda to local stores. He also built a camp for Mr. Grant during the years that he worked for him. Ivery had many manual skills. He was employed at Dexter Shoe Company for a few years, did restoration work on the historic "Advent Hall" in Dexter, and was a skilled carpenter. At the age of 60, he was hired as a Piscataquis County Sheriff's Department jail transport officer and had a dual role with the U. S. Marshall's service transporting criminals all over New England. He received recognition for his service with the Sheriff's department and officially retired at the age of 82. Ivery enjoyed working and he lived a full life serving God, his country and his community. He was honored to be the recipient of Monson's Boston Post Cane at the age of 89 in 2017. He married Phyllis Giles in 1947 and they raised four children, RosaLee Ronco, Diana Perkins, Ivery Webber Jr., and Cynthia Jaramillo. Ivery Jr. was killed while serving in the U. S. Army in 1972. Ivery and Phyllis were divorced after 25 years of marriage. Ivery was one of 17 children born to George Ivery and Susie (Parsons) Webber and was raised in the wonderful town of Garland. He was a lifelong resident of Maine and for the last three and a half years, he has resided and cared for by his daughter, RosaLee, at her home in Dexter. He had a special bond with her sweet dog, Princess. He is survived by his daughters, RosaLee Ronco of Dexter, Diana and husband, Leroy, of Waterville, and Cynthis Jaramillo of NC; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He had a special relationship with his granddaughter, Sonja Mauro, who resides in Dexter. His surviving brothers are Manford Webber of Willimantic; Forest, Glenwood, Gardiner, Alton and William Webber, all residents of Garland. His brother Leroy resides in Canada. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rilla Burgess, Ruby Stewart and Barbara Kazlaskas; brothers, Gordon, Merville, Renview, Vernie, Harland and Allen. There will be a graveside burial service at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, at the West Garland Cemetery, with his daughter, Pastor Diana Perkins officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal.
