Obituary
LEWISTON - Marian Townsend, 87, of Lewiston, ME, passed away on Feb. 9, 2022, due to complications relating to Covid with her devoted husband by her side. She was born in Charleston, ME, on Sept. 13, 1934. Marian was a resident of Lewiston, ME, where she spent the last few years of her life. Marian suffered from Alzheimer's Disease and often didn't recognize family and friends. However, if you were lucky, she would know you and could communicate her love and devotion to you. She never really lost her knowing her husband and love of her life, Jerry. Marian grew up in Charleston, the eldest daughter of Ralph and Viola (Russell) Weymouth. She raised six children while living in Dexter the majority of her life. With her first husband she owned and operated Olmsted's Jewelry Store as well as a riding stable. Marian will be remembered for her caring nature and beauty within and out. She was a lifelong caregiver for her son, Gary. She was active in the community of Dexter serving on many boards and leadership roles including The Eastern Star, Fireman's Auxiliary, Rainbow, the Dexter Ambulance Service and her church. She transported children in the area to the United Palsy Center in Bangor, volunteered with the annual telethons, and supported UPC in any way possible. Marian was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and family, costumes for the horse shows, bridesmaids and bridal gowns. Marian was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Roger Olmsted; her son, Gary; brother, Robert; and sister, Carol. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Townsend of Lewiston; her children, Joanne, Kenny, Ronnie, Steve and Dawn; stepchildren, J. Scott, Leland, and Kelly; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald and Ralph Jr.; sisters, Cathy and Alice; and many nieces, nephews and their families. In keeping with Marian's wishes a graveside service followed by a celebration of her life will take place in the late spring early summer at the Village Cemetery in Charleston.
