Obituary
Carol Thomson passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022. Carol was born on December 25, 1952 in Boston, Massachusetts. She spent her childhood in the Boston area and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1974. She was married to her wife, Karen, in Stonington, Connecticut in 2007. Carol and Karen moved to Dexter, Maine in 2007, where they remained residents until her death. Carol was good-hearted, generous, a hard worker, intelligent, and a fiercely loyal person. She was devoted to her cats, rescuing and homing numerous stray and rescue kitties. She was a good story teller with a wry sense of humor. She was a devoted Steeler's fan and excited to watch them in the Super Bowls of 2006, 2009 and 2011. Carol was a good cook who once represented her state as a finalist in a national cook-off. She enjoyed fishing and was a weather enthusiast, reading the scientific weather report daily. Carol is survived by her wife of fifteen years, Karen Staffeld; her special feline companion, T-Bone; her aunt, Ann Staffeld of Newburyport, Massachusetts; her cousin, Michelle Mendez of Randolph, Massachusetts; and friends Lillie Ambrose of Dexter; and Rhea Greenberg and Janice Glock-Jones of the Bronx, New York. She is pre-deceased by special feline companions including Cinnamon, Jasper, and Marco. At Carol's request there will be no services. Burial will be at a later date in the Village Cemetery in Thomaston, Maine. There will be calling hours at her home in early February. Hall Funeral Home of Thomaston, Maine has care of the arrangements. Friends and family are encouraged to check Hall's website for the day and time of the calling hours.
