Obituary
HARMONY & DEXTER – Amy Bagley Lake and her two children, Coty and Monica, went to be with the Lord Monday morning, June 13, 2011. Amy (38), Coty (13), and Monica (12) were currently living in Dexter and attending the Ridgeview Community School. They were active in both of their communities and their school. Amy was born December 5, 1972 in Dover-Foxcroft. She is the daughter of Ralph and Linda (Trafton) Bagley of Harmony. She attended the Baptist churches in Harmony, Wellington and Cambridge. She attended Harmony Elementary and Dexter Regional High School where she graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1991. She excelled in athletics lettering in field hockey, basketball and track. She was a member of many high school organizations. She hosted a French foreign exchange student, Chantal Astolfi, and then a year later visited France. She continued her education at the University of Maine at Farmington where she earned dual degrees in Special Education and Elementary Education in 1995. She spent her entire teaching career in the Dexter school district from 1995 – 2011. In the last five years, Amy enjoyed coaching basketball and field hockey. As a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, friend and teacher she filled every life that she touched with joy and happiness. One of Amy’s greatest joys in life was being surrounded by her students and her children. Coty was born August 24, 1997 in Waterville. He was an eighth grade student at Ridgeview where he enjoyed sneaking into his mother’s classroom each day and couldn’t go to sleep without hearing his mother’s voice each night. Coty was a member of the basketball and soccer teams. Coty enjoyed all outdoor activities especially tenting, fishing, hunting, four wheeling and snowmobiling. He enjoyed doing scouting activities with his beloved cousins, Adam and Kyle and recently had joined Boy Scout Troop #61 in Parkman. He always looked forward to attending the annual Farmington Antique Tractor Show with his Grammie and Grampy Bagley. Coty was a special boy that was loved by all. Monica was born January 4, 1999 in Waterville. She was a sixth grade student at Ridgeview where she enjoyed and excelled in her sports (field hockey, basketball and softball) and academics in which she achieved straight A’s. This past spring she was in the senior play “The Wizard of Oz” in which she played three characters. She was musically inclined and enjoyed playing the saxophone and violin. She enjoyed having sleepovers at Grammie and Grampy Bagley’s with her beloved cousins Lindsay and Abbey. One of Monica’s greatest joys was the love she had for her pets. Monica and her mother spent hours together doing many activities that they both enjoyed. Monica was a special girl and made everyone smile with her charismatic personality. She played to win and was loved by all who knew her. In addition to Amy’s parents, Amy, Coty and Monica are survived by grandparents and great grandparents, Burlin and Virginia Trafton of Harmony, adopted grandparents Ray (and his late wife Rita) Sanboy of CT; Amy’s brothers, Jeff Bagley and his wife, Roxann of Parkman and Rob Bagley and his wife, Kathy of Fairfield, nieces, nephews, cousins and the family pets, Sassy, Sox, Christmas, Angel, Diesel and Tobey. Amy was predeceased by paternal grandparents Ernest and Myra Brown and Alphes Bagley. There are numerous other loving relatives that continue to surround the remaining family with love and God’s blessings. Friends may call from 6 to 9 P.M. Friday, June 17th at the Dexter Regional High School gymnasium, where funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Saturday with the Rev. Will Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Chadbourne Cemetery, Harmony. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. In lieu of flowers an account in honor of Amy and her children will be set up at the Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union, 73 Main Street, Dexter, ME 04930.
