Obituary
SACO - Geraldine R. Landry, 93, died peacefully Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, after a brief illness. She was surrounded during her final days by her loving family. She was born Feb. 19, 1919, in St. Albans, to Clarence E. Hanson and Maude (Foss) Hanson, the youngest of five children. Her siblings were Levi, Joseph, Pauline and Hildreth, all of whom predeceased her. She was educated in local schools and graduated from N.H. Fay High School, Dexter, in the class of 1939. During World War II, Geraldine was trained in aviation instrument repair and worked at the Army Air Force base in Presque Isle, installing and repairing instruments on bombers flying to and from the war in Europe. After the war, she owned a millinery shop in Dexter until she married Horace Landry in 1948 and immediately began her family - seven children in 10 years. Thereafter she devoted her life almost entirely to her family and the countless friends who came to know her ready laughter and tolerant, non-judgmental demeanor. She also managed to run an answering service in Southbridge for a few years, and a boarding home in Dexter. Geraldine had a lifelong interest in horses and horseracing, and the products of her knitting are highly prized in the family. Her greatest legacy is the example of her unconditional love that she gave so unsparingly to her family and friends. Her husband, Horace, predeceased her in 2007. Surviving her are her children and their spouses and partners, Scott Landry and Brenda, Russell Landry and Brenda, Terrence Landry and Pauline, Mary (Landry) Potter and Roderick, Vicki (Landry) Edgerly and Everett Parker, Robert Landry and Rhonda Nordenson, and Katherine Landry and Ben Watkins. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Seth Landry, Casey Philbrick, Brooks Landry, Renée Landry, Jason Williams, Michelle Landry, Elicia Dione, Justin Winslow, Levi Landry, Caleb Landry, Taylor Landry, Heidi Pare, Heather Edgerly, Grant Edgerly, Molly Dall, Joshua Hughes, Sarah Potter and Gabriel Potter; and 11 great-grandchildren, Olivia Williams, Caden Landry, Stephanie Pare, Tiffany Pare, Bethany Pare, Parker Pare, Beck Edgerly, Bobby Dall, Riley Dall, Charlie Dall and Natalie Flannery. Two more are expected. Finally, she is survived by many nieces and nephews in both her own family and Horace's that she loved very much. A memorial service will be scheduled for the spring. Until then, funeral arrangements are being managed by Dennett, Craig and Pate, 365 Main St., Saco. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to donate to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074 or The Maine Way Inc., P.O.
