DEXTER - Judy A. Swan, 70, died December 26, 2019 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born January 31, 1949 in Bangor a daughter of Edward and Alice (Blackman) Matson. She graduated from Winslow High School and attended the University of Maine at Farmington for 2 years. Receiving her Bachelor's Degree from Eastern CT State Teacher's College, Judy received her Master's and CAS certification from the University of Maine at Orono. She taught in the Dexter schools for 32 years. But most of all, she was a loving wife, mother and nana. Judy was very active in the First Baptist Church in Dexter. Her pastor described her as a quiet, tireless servant of the church and always put others needs before her own. She was also involved with the Dexter Sunshine Club and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donald of Dexter; a daughter, Heather and husband Rick Doherty of Dexter; 2 sisters, Terry Jacobs of Ft. Myers, FL and Gayle Gilley of Otis; 2 grandchildren who were the shining light of her life, Cole and Ethan Doherty; and many special nieces and nephews. Judy was predeceased by 2 brothers Edward and Harold Matson; a sister Jo-Lynn Gunning; and infant daughter Amy Louise Swan. Friends may call from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P. M., Monday December 30th at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 11 A. M. December 31st at the First Baptist Church, Main Street Hill, Dexter with Rev.
