DEXTER – Dawn C. Huntt, 84, went to meet her Lord and Savior November 6, 2021 at her residence. She was born March 4, 1937, in Guilford, Maine, a daughter of Evelyn Faye (Lord) and Clifton Earl Taylor, who predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her husband of 17 years, Rodney E. “Buddy” Huntt, and three children: Sandra Jaseck of Fenton, Michigan, and Steven Swain of Livonia, Michigan, and their spouses, Richard Jaseck and Susan Swain, and Richard L. Swain of Davison, Michigan. She is also predeceased by younger brothers, Joel C. Taylor of Dexter, and Marvin W. Taylor of Guilford. She is survived by a son, Donald R. Swain, and William Loy, of Urbana, Maryland, and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Swain of Davison, Michigan; a sister, Pamela R. Weymouth and husband, Howard of Abbot, Maine; a sister-in-law, Sandra Taylor of Guilford; 10 grandchildren (Christopher, Michele, Richard, Justin, Ryan, Robin, Jamie, Jennifer, David and Daniel) and 12 great-grandchildren, Landon, Mya, Caleb, Dominic, Brooklyn, Addyson, Jaden, Brynn, Cali Mae, Brek, Ivy and Dean; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and loyal and special friends; especially Tim Breen of Dexter. She attended P.C.H.S. in Guilford, and after graduating as an honor student from Hampden Academy, moved to Michigan and was employed for a number of years by American Airlines. She danced with the Arthur Murray Studio in Detroit, Michigan, and was active in drama. She then entered the legal field in Michigan and attended Oakland Community College in Farmington, Michigan, and was a legal secretary/paralegal for over 45 years; her last employment being with Michael A. Wiers in Newport for 16 years. She played the organ at the Methodist Church in Guilford when she was 16. Then again at the Baptist Church in Parkman, the Congregational Church in Bingham for ten years and then became the organist at New Hope Baptist Church in Dexter in 2001 and also was a past clerk and financial secretary of that church, a drama director, and a former member of the choir. She also taught Adult Education clerical studies for many years in Southfield, Michigan, Guilford, Dover-Foxcroft, and Dexter and gave art lessons and piano lessons. She was a charter member of Wayside Theatre in Dexter, serving as its president, vice president, ticket director, choir member and actress. Dawn was also a member of the Wayside Grange. She served on the Board of Directors for Hometown Health Center for many years and was organist and member of the Eastern Star in Guilford. She was in various commercials for local television and radio stations. She loved painting, art, and travel and took trips to Hawaii in 1989; Hong Kong and Beijing, China, in 2001; and to England, Scotland and Ireland in 2003. Visitation will be at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter, Friday, November 12th from 3 to 5 P.M. An Eastern Star service will be held at 4 P.M. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, November 13th at the New Hope Baptist Church in Dexter with the Reverends Jerett Olson of Dexter and Douglas Drown of Sedgwick officiating. The family requests that masks be worn during visitation and the funeral. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
