Obituary	RIPLEY - Gladys Myrtle Tewksbury, 76, died July 23, 1990 at a Pittsfield hospital after a long illness. She was born April 9, 1914, at Magag, P.Q., Canada, the daughter of George and Vener (Smith) Goodwin. When she was four years old, her mother married Harold Smith, who became her devoted stepfather. She made her home in Ripley for 50 years before moving to Newport and Pittsfield. She moved to Sebasticook Valley Nursing Home in Pittsfield in December 1988. She is survived by one son, Harold of Stafford Springs, Conn.; one grandson, Stephen of Ripley; and a special friend, Thomas Matthews of Newport; two brothers, Carol Goodwin of Belfast and Warren Smith of Owls Head; two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Cart, who died in 1966. Friends called at Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 238 Main St., Dexter on July 25, and funeral services were held the following day with the Rev. Helen Zigmund officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Donations may be made in her memory to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital Outpatient Building Fund., 99 Grove HIll, Pittsfield (04967).
