Obituary
Corinna -Douglas Wayne Mayhew, 69 of Corinna, passed away unexpectedly on June 21, 2021, at his home. Doug was born August 1, 1951, in Dexter, Maine, to Joseph and Viola(Johnson) Mayhew. He attended Dexter High School and joined the United States Army after graduation. After the Army, Doug married Linda, the love of his life, in 1972, and they had two children, Dougie and Danielle. He worked at the Dexter Shoe Factory, before moving on to play a key role in keeping the Town of Dexter's Water District running smoothly and safely for many years. He retired from that role in 2017. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, cooking for those he cared about, and watching his grandsons play sports and grow into fine young men. He was a Mainer through and through-a jack of all trades, and all his friends and family knew they could count on him to help figure out a tricky job. You could find him telling stories at Dexter Lumber most every morning of the week-this crew especially loved Doug's cooking. Doug is survived by his wife, Linda (Johndro) Mayhew, daughter and husband, Danielle (Mayhew) and Michael Louder, beloved grandsons, Aidan and Cameron Louder, and Nicholas Hubel; daughter-in-law Kimberly Mayhew, sisters and their spouses;Nancy and Randy Webber, Judy and Robert Wyman, and Connie Scales; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws: Emund and Vernelia Johndro, Delores and Andrew Clukey, Percy and Patty Johndro, and Judy Varney; and many nieces and nephews who thought of him like a second Dad growing up. Doug will be sadly and greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his son Dougie Mayhew, father and mother, Joseph and Viola Mayhew, brother Randy Mayhew, nephew Ryan Webber and niece Brandy Scales. To honor Doug's wishes, there will not be a public service, rather a small celebration of his life with close family and friends.
