DEXTER - Stanley "Stan" Berube, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Dexter on April 27, 2021. Stanley was born in Dover-Foxcroft, on March 27, 1943, the son of Joseph and Hazel (Willett) Berube. Stan was a 1961 graduate of Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft. He was a long-time resident of Dexter, where he raised two children with his wife, Diana. Stan worked at Dexter Shoe Company for 36 years. He was an avid snowmobiler, and later was known to travel on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. Stan and Diana made many trips by motorcycle to California, Florida, and Canada. They loved to travel together, visiting family on the East Coast, Washington State, Texas, and Kansas. He and his son, Roger, loved to work on vehicles, spending many hours in the garage together. Stan earned his private pilot's license in the early 1990s. He owned a Cessna, and loved taking friends and family on flights around Maine and participating in patrols for the Maine Forest Service. He was a member of the Dexter Aero Club, where he will be missed by his many friends and fellow pilots, including long-time friends Tim Briggs, Roger Nelson, Keith Garrison, and Mike Jones. Stan was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Diana (Nelson) Berube, in November 2020. In addition to his parents and his wife, Stanley was predeceased by two brothers, George Berube and Wally Willett; and two sisters, Rena and Sally Berube. Stan is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Cheryl Berube of Springtown, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and William Fletcher of Falmouth; grandchildren, Jaime, Steve and Bridgitte Berube, and Katie, Anna and Grace Fletcher; sister, Carolyn Berube of Archer, Florida; 2 brothers, Mike Greenier of Dover-Foxcroft and Gene Berube of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Reggie Nelson and wife, Paula, of Carmel; brother-in-law, Ronnie Nelson of Dexter; a special niece, Karen Russell and her family of Newport; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Stanley was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his family, and by his beloved dog Gussy, but also by the many local people who were his support system, who enjoyed his unique local knowledge, great humor an Stanley was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his family, and by his beloved dog, Gussy, but also by the many local people who were his support system, who enjoyed his unique local knowledge, great humor and spirit, and dedication to the town of Dexter.
