Obituary	DEXTER - Harold E. Stanley Jr. passed away January 15, 2018, in Portland, Me with his family by his side. He was born in Skowhegan, Me. on May 22, 1931, a son of Harold Sr. and Gertrude (Knight) Stanley. Harold attended Skowhegan schools prior to joining the US Navy in 1948. He was a proud veteran that served honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member of the VFW and the American Legion. Harold married Mona Moody in Skowhegan on December 5, 1953. Harold and Mona had two sons, Harold III, and Leslie. The family moved to Dexter, Me. where Harold had a long career with the Dexter Shoe Co. Before and after retiring, he and Mona enjoyed traveling to visit with family and friends and the winters they spent in Sarasota, Fla. Harold liked woodworking, fishing, playing golf at Dexter Muni., and striking up a conversation whenever and wherever he could. Harold is survived by his wife, Mona of Portland and his children, Harold (Amy) of Westbrook, Me and Leslie (Katie) of Concord, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Griffin (Barry) of Portland, Hilary Yehling (Eric) of Candia, NH, Tom Stanley (Shawn) of Fremont, NH and Alyssa Stanley of Concord, NH, as well as four great-grandchildren, Sadie and Oliver Griffin and Reid and Miles Yehling. Harold is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Earl Knight, Leon Potter, Wallace Stanley, Delmar Stanley and Donald Stanley. A celebration of Harold's life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Published on January 26, 2018
