Frank A. Quimby , 91, passed away September 2, 2019 at his home in Dexter surrounded by family. Frank was born July 15, 1928 in Cambridge, a son of Elmer and Ethel (Ward) Quimby. He grew up in Cambridge and took over the family farm in 1951 after his father passed away. He ran the farm until it burned in 1958 and then established his own excavation construction business. After selling the business in the early 1970s he then worked as a millwright in the union before retiring in 1993. Frank was an active member in his community, serving as a representative in the Maine State Legislature. He was also a Mason and a Shriner, as well as an active member of the local grange.On June 15, 1949 Frank married Beverly (Davis) Quimby, with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage earlier this year. Together they had six children that they raised in Cambridge. In 1984 they started to split their time between Maine and Florida. They enjoyed winters in St. Petersburg and later Brooksville, FL, and summers home in Maine. Frank attended the Cambridge Baptist Church in Maine, as well as the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Florida. He was a good husband, great father, grandfather and friend who will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, dry sense of humor and laid back, easy going demeanor. Frank is survived by his wife, Beverly; children Alan Quimby and wife Cindy, Randy Quimby and wife Marsha, Elaine Russell and husband Stan, Ann Reitano and husband Dave, Jim Quimby and wife Charlie. He is also survived by his sister Marion ORoak and husband Dwayne, his lifelong best friend, Elmer Folsom; granddaughters Michelle (Quimby) Espeaignette, Stephanie (Russell) Koscielny, Elizabeth Bunker) Noiles, Alicia (Quimby) Laweryson, Alison and Courtney Quimby and grandsons Arthur and Michael Quimby; special niece Kathy (Davis) Hebert who has graciously helped care for him the past few months, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great-great grand.children and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother George Quimby, son Jeffrey Quimby and grandsons Randy "Skip" Quimby, Scott Russell, Adrian Bunker and Jonathan Bunker. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7th at Cambridge Baptist Church with Pastor Sam McKeen officiating. Interment will be in the Cambridge Memorial Garden.
