Obituary
Oland V. MacLauchlan, 81, died Dec. 1 in a Pittsfield nursing home following a long illness. He was born in Fort Fairfield, June 24, 1897, the son of George A. and Maud (Craig) MacLauchlan. He was educated in the Fort Fairfield schools. He married Myrtle Spearin in Fort Fairfield June 24, 1920. They moved to Newport in 1936 where Mr. MacLauchian was self-employed as a farmer. In 1945 Mr and Mrs. MacLauchian moved to Ripley, where for 33 years he was self-employed in farming and also dealth in farming machinery. After retiring from farming, Mr. MacLauchian was an estate caretaker. In August of this year they moved to St.Albans. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge In Fort Fairfield and a member of the People United Methodist Church, Newport. He is survived by his widow, Myrtle of St. Albans; two sons, Donn of Cambridge, Dale of Ledyard , Conn; one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Wiers of St.Albans; nine grandchildren; two great grandsons; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were Dec. 3 from Brown Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Newport, next spring.
