Obituary
It was with no little sorrow that the many friends of Mrs. Lucy A Nutter heard of her death on Sunday evening, July 3, 1910 at her home on Pleasant Street, after a short illness. Mrs. Nutter was a splendid Christian character; a woman of vigorous mind and strong personality, influencing and encouraging all who knew her and enjoyed her friendship. A divine trust, a tender resignation, a clear hope in a beyond filled her life, and Christ in all her thoughts. She was strong in her affections and her spirit devout. She has left behind a sweet memory which leaves its trace on the household, and a subtle fragrance, as when sandal-wood has lain for a while in paper or rosemary among clothes. To those who mourn her demise is extended the heartfelt sympathy of the many friends in Dexter, and in other places. Mrs. Nutter was the daughter of Rev. William Tripp, and was born in Bethel, known now as Hanover. Her age was 82 years and seven months. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Susan Flanagan of Yankton, Dakota, and one brother the Hon. Bartlett Tripp, also of Yankton, and leaves six children, four daughters, Mrs. Rosaline Clark of Flagstaff Arizona, Miss Atta L. Nutter of Dexter, Mrs. Blanche N. Atkins of Dexter, and two sons, R. Wallace Nutter of Malden, and H. Bartlett Nutter of Tewksbury, Mass. The funeral services were held Wednesday morning, July 6, at the home and were largely attended, conducted by the Rev. A. E. Luce of the Methodist church. The bearers were C.M. Sawyer, D.K. Jenkins, Stanley Plummer and C.P. McCrillis.
