Obituary
James G. Cook, 56, died unexpectedly at his residence in Ripley Sept. 16. He was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Unity, the son of John R. and Mary (Grover)Cook. He as educated in the schools of Newport. He was married July 5, 1957, Cambridge to Carolyn Dearing. He worked for a time at Farrars Market in Dexter, and for the last few years has been employed at Dexter Shoe Co., Dexter. He has lived in Newport, Harmony, Cambridge and for the last four years had made his residence in Ripley. Mr. Cook was a member of the Cambridge Masonic Lodge No 157 AF&AM; a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Augusta, the Maine Consistory S,P,R.S, 32nd degree of Portland; member of Anah Temple of the Shine of Bangor and the Central Maine Shrine Club. He is survived by his wife, of Ripley, one stepson, Bruce P.York of Harmony, one step-daughter, Mrs. Arnold ( Glenda) Sawyer of Ripley, one brother, Fred A. of Glenburn; sister. Mrs. Natta Jones of Newport; six grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Masonic funeral services were Sept. 18 at the Brown Funeral Home 24 High St., Newport Friends who wish may made memorial contributions in Mr. Cooks name to the Shrine Burn Center Boston. Donations may be left at the funeral home I Newport.
