Obituary	H.L. (Vern) Wakefield, 89, died Aug. 17 at a Hartland nursing home after a long illness. He was born March 28, 1886 in Ripley, son of Daniel C. and Abbie (Pratt). He farmed all of his life and retired in his early 60s He drove a school bus in Ripley for may, many years. He was a 50-year member of the Ripley Grange and attended the Ripley Methodist Church. He is survived by one son, Vance Wakefield, Bath; one grandson Gary, Ripley; one brother, John, Ripley; four great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were August 18 at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial was in the Ferndale Cemetery Ripley.
