Obituary
James M. Silverman December 13, 2013 6:07 pm DEXTER – James M. Silverman, 73, passed away Dec. 12, 2013, at home with his family by his side. He fought a hard battle for the past six months against myelodysplastic syndrome, progressing to acute myelod leukemia. He was born June 27, 1940, in Nashville, Tenn., to Jakie M. Silverman and Cora Camilla (Hardison) Silverman Loud. Jim was employed by a number of automobile dealerships in the area as a mechanic, as well as owning his own gas station/auto repair shop and auto parts store. He then held the position of superintendent of the Mid-Maine Solid Waste Association, retiring eight years ago. Jim was very active in his community and had many friends, evidenced by his Friday night get togethers in his spacious garage. In his younger years, he was in 4-H and the Boy Scouts. Once grown, he was involved with the Dexter Jaycees, the Dexter Fire Department for 20 plus years, serving as Fire Chief for 13 years, the Dexter Planning Board, Dexter Utility District Board and the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club. His hobbies included golfing, doing ground-up restorations of corvettes, and woodworking. He had a full woodworking shop where he turned out many beautiful pieces of furniture, as well as small gifts for his daughters and grandchildren. In the winter, he loved snowmobiling and trail grooming for the snowmobile club. Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra; two daughters, Marcy King and husband, Trampas, and Robin Pyrzyk and husband, Walt; as well as the lights of his life, his five grandchildren, Nicholas Clukey and wife, Rachel, Samuel and Shelby Pyrzyk, Regan and Annika King. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Loud; and sisters, Debra Nagle and Judy Loud. He will also be missed by his dog, AL. Jim was predeceased by his father, Jakie Silverman; mother, Cora Camilla Silverman Loud; stepfather, Maynard Loud; and his brother, William T. Silverman. Friends may call 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Andrew Spohrer officiating. Spring burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
