Charles E. Crawford 89, beloved husband of Barbara E. (Wilbur) Crawford, died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Ledgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beverly, MA. Raised and educated in Augusta, Maine, he was the son of the late Harold E. and Blanche (Watts) Crawford. He received his education in the Augusta School System and graduated from Dexter High School in Dexter, Maine. Mr. Crawford continued his Education and earned a degree from the University of Maine. Mr. Crawford had been employed for many years by the Savings Bank Life Insurence Company at the Somerset Bank in Somerville until the time of his retirement. Prior to that he had worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurence Company and prior to that at H.P.Hood at Cherry Hill Farm in Beverly. A longtime resident of Beverly, he had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Beverly where he was active in the choir. Mr. Crawford had a love for music and was an accomplished director and singer in many Barbershop Quartets. He was a longtime member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, a life member of the Masons and earned the badge of Eagle scout as a young man. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. In addition to his wife, with whom he shared sixty nine years of marriag, he is survived by a daughter, Eileen Crawford of Morristown, VT, three sons, Jeffrey Crawford and his wife, JoAnne of Glouster, Robert Crawford of Beverly and David Crawford of Newburyport, eight grandchildren, a sister, Donna Lagasse of Dexter, ME and two former daughter-in-laws Linda Crawford and Cindy Crawford. He was also the father of the late Dianne Crawford ctHis funeral service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invitied to attend.
