Obituary
Joyce (McGowan) Wintle, 92, went home to be with her Lord on April 5, 2018. She was born October 13, 1925 in Hartland, a daughter of Frank and Lala (McCormick) McGowan. She attended Hartland schools and later completed her G.E.D. Joyce met her husband James in Corinna at a roller skating rink. They were married in December 7,1942.They bought a farm in Ripley converting it to a chicken farm. They raised chickens there for a number of years and then moved to Dexter buying a larger farm and expanding their business. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter. She was a 69 year member of the Ripley Homemakers Extension. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. She volunteered her talents to Hospital Chaplaincy and the Linus Project, donating many items and quilts that she had made. She also donated toys for the Dexter Christmas for Kids for many years. She is survived by 2 sons, Galen and wife Gayanne of Dexter, Frank and wife Annmarie of New York; and a daughter in-law, Patti Wintle of St. Albans; 3 daughters, Susan Packard of Dexter, Sandra Blaney and husband Gene of St. Albans, Darlene King and husband Jack of Levant; grandchildren, Scott, Stephen, David, Michael, Craig and Joshua Wintle, James Ogden, Shawn Taylor, Tonja Lary, Jessica Bracey, Pamela Hartley and April Wintle; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and step grand and great grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by her husband James; 2 brothers and 1 sister, Thornton McGowan, Clive McGowan and Vivian Russell; 1 son Calvin Wintle and wife Lana; 2 grandsons Mark Wintle and Jason Ogden; 1 great grandson Tyler Wintle; and 1 son in law, Norman Packard. A celebration of life service will be held at 11A.M. Wednesday, April 11th, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter, with the Rev. Stan Griffin officiating. Friends may call from 10 A.M. until the time of the funeral. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at the church following the services. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, later in the spring. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
