Obituary
DEXTER - Karan Sleight, 66, died July 6, 2016 at her residence. She was born May 14,1950 in Dexter, a daughter of Gilbert and Alta (Grouse) Sleight. She graduated from Dexter Regional High School, Class of 1969, and worked in CT for a few years. She returned to Dexter, working at Dexter Shoe Company for 25 years until it closed. Karan worked at the TD Career Center for 5 years, then did medical transcription at Corinth, Corinna, Guilford and Dexter. She was a member of the Board Committee at Dr. Reddys office, and served on the committee and worked at the Dexter Area Food Cupboard. She looked forward to getting together with her friends once a month to eat out and laugh together, and also loved to travel with her friends on bus tours. She is survived by a sister, Marabelle Kennedy and partner Kevin Thibeault of Dexter; her niece Kim Polichak, partner Joe Hanscom and children Carter Polichak, Trenton and Tessa Hanscom, all of Dexter; nephew Troy Nightingale, wife Sheri and their four sons, Brad, Tyler, Kyle and Shawn, all of Garland; a special cousin, Betty Laferriere of Dexter; step sisters, Carol Wallace and family of Dexter, Jeanne Wright and family of Windham. She will be sadly missed by her friends Mary Tuttle, Sharon Beaudoin, Velma Sinclair, Paulette Gilbert, Jill and Will Jones and Nancy Roy. She was predeceased by her mother and step father, Ed and Alta Carter, her father Gilbert Sleight, step sister Susie Bowden, and best buddy Tessie, her dog. There will be no visitation. Services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Thursday, July 21st, at the New Hope Baptist Church, Spring Street, Dexter, with the Rev. Mark Clark and Pastor Matt Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Mt.
