Obituary	DEXTER - Mary H. Jewett, 92, passed away October 5, 2016 at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born February 28, 1924 in Portland, the daughter of Philip and Sarah (Grover) Hoyt. Mary was a graduate of Farmington High School and Bates College. She taught high school English in Norway and Dexter. Mary also worked for 14 years at the Dexter Day Care Center. She was a former member of the Wassookeag Jr. Literary Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Dexter Sunshine Club, and the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, MA, which was the backbone and structure of her life. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at Center Pond in Sangerville and also enjoyed her many trips to Rhode Island where she recently lived with her daughter and son-in-law for 2 ½ years before moving back to Sangerville this past summer. Mary will be missed by her daughter and husband Sandra and Gary Matthews of Sangerville; her son and wife Jeffrey and Robin Jewett of Tucson, AZ; 2 granddaughters and their husbands, Sarah and Shawn McGinn of St. Louis, MO and Hannah and David Murray of Cumberland, RI; and 8 great grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Madison, Brooke, Luke, Kyla, Maggie, and Liam. She also leaves several cousins in Rumford, Bangor, Hermon and Fredericksburg, VA, as well as many special friends. She was predeceased by her husband Clyde P. Jewett; her parents; a brother Philip R. Hoyt; as well as her Uncle John and wife Myrtle Yeaton. As Mary requested, there will not be services at this time. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at a future date in Farmington.
