Obituary	Flora > Britten, 78, a former local teacher, died Wednesday, September 16, 1987, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home after a long illness. She was born in Ripley, December 11, 1908, the daughter of John and Mary (Merrill) Laughton. She was educated in this towns schools and was a graduate of Dexters N.H. Fay High School. She then attended Farmington Normal School for two years. At one time she was also employed by Baxter Tanning Co., in Hartland. Mrs. Britten was a member of Wassookeag Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband, Douglas, of Ripley, two daughters, Mrs Donn (Mary Jane) MacLauchian of Pittsfield and Mrs. Charles (Carol) Ron of Brewer; three brothers, Edward Laughton of Hartland, Andrew Laughton of Ocean Park, Florida and John Laughton of Bangor two sisters, Mrs. Adelma Sevey of Ripley and Mrs. Susan Jewett of Hermon; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, Funeral services were held Saturday at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel in Hartland where friends called Friday.
