Obituary
Ripley Man Dies In Woods While Hunting A searching party found the body of a 73-year-old Ripley hunter Tuesday night, who suffered a heart attack while hunting alone in the woods near his home. Bernard R. Brown was apparently stricken after he fired his rifle, as several empty shells were found near his body. The searching party was organized about 10 p.m. when Brown failed to return home. Funeral services were held today (Thurs) at the Crosby Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Parlin of the Methodist Church officiating. Brown was a lifelong resident of Ripley and was born Feb. 22, 1892, son of Charles and Stella (Blaisdell) Brown. He is survived by his widow; a son, Joseph of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., four grandchildren and a nephew. Burial was in Ferndale Cemetery in Ripley.
