Obituary	RIPLEY - Maynard G. Foster, 89, died Sept. 3, 2015 at Hibbards Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born Nov. 30, 1925 in Sangerville, the son of Henry and Bertha Foster. Maynard joined the US Navy during WWII and was a gunner on the USS Alaska in the South Pacific. He was a very proud man and did not brag about his accomplishments. He was a Mason and a Shriner and belonged to the Scottish Rite. Maynard was a very hard and dedicated worker. Upon return from WWII, he drove a taxi and worked at Shiros Shoe Store both in Bangor. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut for 3 and a half years returning to Maine to work at Fay and Scott and later went back to retail at Reeds Footwear and Clothing in Dover-Foxcroft. Reeds moved to Dexter where he worked for 30 years. When the store closed, no grass grew under his feet. He began working for Omsteads Jewelry and then to Buds Shop-n-Save in Dexter where he worked for 20 years. He was a people person and loved just being around everyone. At Buds, his coworkers were like his second family. Our family would like to thank everybody at Buds for being extremely kind and for the love they showed our Dad during the last two years of our fathers declining health. Maynard will leave a large void in all our lives as we say goodbye to a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle and friend. We will miss him and his special smile dearly. Surviving are his children, Mary Wentworth and companion, Gary of South Carolina, John Goggin of Sangerville, Jo-Ann and husband, Thomas Kitchin of Pittsfield, Brenda and husband, Richard Arnold of Scarborough and Linda and husband, Earl Tracy of Brewer;grandchildren, Laura of Washington State, Annie of California, Blain of Florida, Jeff of Dexter, Jenny of Dexter, Jason of Guilford, Tanya of Guilford, Nicole of Fryburg, Rangell of Washington State, Shawna of Belfast, Alicia of No. Carolina, Melissa of So. Carolina, Cary of Wisconsin, Scott of Florida, Monica of Portland, Karen of Bangor, Kevin of Ohio and Brian of Bar Harbor; 30 great- grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Maynard was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Anna M. Glass in 2012, his son, Steven and stepdaughter, Helen, granddaughter, Connie, daughter-in-law, Bonnie. A graveside service will be held 5 PM Thursday, Sept 17, 2015 at Lawn Cemetery, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Shirners Childrens Hospital - this is what Dad would want.
