Obituary
DEXTER - Roger A. Royal 77, went home to be with the Lord, May 2, 2016. He was born in Milo, November 8, 1938, the son of Carroll and Viola (Drinkwater) Royal. He served in the U.S. Army, and later in the 946 Transportation Army Reserve, Unit in Dexter. During the 1970s he served as a part time police officer in Dexter under Chief Harold Knox, and worked for Dexter Shoe for 42 years, retiring in 1998 due to poor health. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and ride his 4-wheeler. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy (MacDougall) Royal of Dexter; a son, Randy Royal and his wife, Lisa of St. Albans; a daughter, Julie Williams and her husband, Kevin of Dixmont; grandchildren, Kyle and Justin of Dixmont, Jacob, Olivia, Jasmine, and Sariah, and a step-granddaughter, Cheyanne, all of St. Albans; a great granddaughter, Peyton of Dixmont; several nieces and nephews; 3 sisters, Alice of CA, Mary of Orrington, and Carolyn of Bangor; 2 brothers, Clayton of Dexter, and Roland of Milo. He was predeceased by sisters, Fern, Dottie, and Leona; and 2 brothers, Merle and Darrell. A graveside service with military honors will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta with Pastor Stan Griffin officiating. A memorial time of remembrance will be held at the American Legion Hall on Grove Street in Dexter, Saturday May 14th, from 1 to 4 PM.
