Obituary
MRS. MARY TATE Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Crosby Funeral Home for Mrs. Mary Tate, 75, who died Friday at the home of a daughter in Mexico, Me., after a long illness. The Rev. Richard J. Norsworthy of the First Universalist Church officiated. Burial was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Bearers were: Byron Joy, Mexico; Charles F. Haines, Clarence Beverly and Clarence Harrington of Dexter. The widow of Ervin Tate she was born at Kenduskeag, April 16, 1881, daughter of Charles and Josephine Hale Gove. She lived for a time in Old Town, but the greater part of her life was spent in Dexter until 1948 when she went to live with a daughter, Mrs. Byron Joy in Mexico. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters of Dexter when that organization was active, and a charter member of the U. F. Club. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Joy, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Clarence Beverly of Dexter; one sister, Mrs. Susanne Haines of Dexter; three grandsons, a granddaughter, a nephew and a niece.
