Obituary
DEXTER - Floyd Gudroe, 84, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was born March 4, 1932 in Corinna, the oldest of four sons of Richard and Clarabelle (Wingate) Gudroe. Floyd attended Dexter schools. He married his forever love, the former Margaret "Peggy" Hobson on June 14, 1952. They were married for 58 years before her death in 2010. Floyd was a hard-working man who took great pride in his family. He supported his children throughout their lives with his generous spirit. He was an avid high school sports fan and was recognized for his support for generations of wrestlers including his sons and grandsons. Floyd worked as an edge trimmer at Dexter Shoe Company for 29 years, but is most known for his used car and wrecker business. If you ever broke down in the Dexter area, you can bet Floyd was there to help you out with his wrecker or ramp truck from Gudroes Used Cars and Auto Salvage. The family is convinced that God was in need of wrecker service when he called . Floyd home. Floyd treasured family vacations at Old Orchard Beach, paintball games in the backyard, holiday get togethers in the garage and playing Rook with Edi, Joe and the kids. Floyd will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him, but mostly by his family, including sons Steve and wife Karen, Randy, David and wife Rhonda; daughter Carol and her husband Allan Gallup, all of Dexter. Floyd loved to boast that he had 21 grandchildren and great grandchildren including Eric, Christopher, Travis and wife Danielle, Adam and wife Allyson, Melissa and fiance Boyce, Michelle and husband Travis, Vikki and husband Evan, Nichole and husband David, Allan "AJ" and wife Erickia. Floyds great grandchildren range in age from 23 years to 1 month old including Eric, Jonathan, Devan, Jordan, Paige, Cally, Addy, Liam, Luke, Riley, Brann and Emilia. Floyd leaves behind his brother Keith and Keiths sons Rodney, Dickie and Michael, and other extended family members. Floyd will also be missed by a dear friend Wayne Dearborn and his wife Donna. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a nephew Jimmy and brothers Cecil and Ernest. Floyd and his family greatly appreciate Coleen, a special staff person that helped Floyd stay independent in his home. A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, April 2nd, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street; Dexter, where family and friends are invited to call from 1 P.M. until the time of services.
