Obituary
On the morning of March 8, Mrs. May Stafford Thurston passed peacefully into the Great Beyond. She had been in frail health for many years, but was only confined to her bed for two days. Of a quiet, retiring disposition, her chief interest was in her home and her only daughter and granddaughter, Lila and Laurice Vittum. The daughter had always lived in her parents home and that home will be lonely indeed without the mothers presence. As only son, Ralph, died some twenty-five years ago, and the husband, M.L. Thurston, last June. Besides the daughter and granddaughter, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Adelma Skillings of Cambridge the only remaining member of a family of eight. The funeral was held at the home on Wednesday, March 10, the Rev. J. Kenneth Halliday of Dexter, of Dexter, officiating. Mr. Crosby had charge of arrangements. Relatives from out of town were Mrs. Skillings, Mr. and Mrs. George Campbell and two daughters of Monmouth, Mrs. Mabel Stafford, Mr. and Mrs. Ivy Harris of Fairfield, Mrs. Mildred Katen, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thurston of Dexter. There were beautiful floral offerings from relatives neighbors and friends. The remains were placed in the tomb at Dexter to await burial in the spring in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant.
