Obituary
On the morning of March 13, after weary months of suffering, Edgar H Ramsdell passed to the higher life, aged 72 years. He had been in feeble health for nearly three years, and confined to the house all winter, the last six weeks, being spent in bed. His wife has been untiring in her devotion during all this time, and it was doubles due to her constant care tat his life was prolonged. Mr. Ramsdell was born in Ripley, Apr. 23, 1861, and lived in our midst nearly all his life. For many years he conducted a store here, winning and holding friends by his honesty, fair dealing and kindness to those who needed his assistance. Fifteen years ago, he secured a position with the State Agricultural Dept. which he held up to the time of death. He was a gentleman of fine character and most genial personality, radiating sunshine where he went, a member of Camp Etna Spiritualist Association, greatly loved and highly esteemed by that large body. Most beautiful flowers surrounded the silent form, while roses, his favorite flowers, were brought in great profusion, silent testimonials of the love of friends, Funeral services were conducted from the house Friday at 10 A.M. by Mary Drake Jenne of Camp Etna, whose helpful and inspiring message did much to dispel the sadness of death. Penobscot Lodge, F.& A.M. of which he had been a member for over fifty years, attended and gave their impressive service. Mr. Ramsdell of Dexter was in charge of arrangements and the four brothers of his wife were bearers, eight members of the State Department being honorary ones. Burial was in the family lot at Ripley. The sun has gone done her, It has risen over there; A new day greets our loved one, He is not dead, only gone home.
