Obituary
FRED B. CHASE Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Crosby Funeral Home for Fred E. Chase, 51, who died Monday morning at Togus Veterans' Hospital after several months' illness. The Rev. Donald Macomber of the Free Baptist Church officiated. Bearers were members of Pouliot-Seavey Post No. 53, American Legion. Interment was at Charleston. He was born May 8, 1904 at Sebec Station, son of Mrs. Blanche Mae Chase and the late Edward Chase. He had lived here about four years coming from Corinna where he was employed for 14 years in a woolen mill. While in Dexter he worked as a woodsman until failing health forced him to retire last July. A veteran of World War II, he had been at Togus since October. Besides his wife, Bertha Beatham Chase, he is survived by three children, Donna, Blanche and David, all of Dexter. Also, the following six children by a former marriage: Mrs. Dorothy Cochrane, Waterville, Franklin of Portland, Edmund of Auburn, Mrs. Marion Denbow of Westbrook, Pearl of Texas, Fred, Jr., in the U. S. Navy stationed in Japan; his mother, Mrs. Blanche Mae Chase, East Hampton, Conn., a sister, Mrs. Thelma Beavan, East Hampton; two brothers, Francis of Winter Harbor, Arnold of Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews.
