Obituary
RIPLEY MAN A SUICIDE William A. Pratt Shoots Himself With Shotgun William A. Pratt, a farmer living about a mile west of Ripley village, committed suicide and 7 oclock this morning by shooting himself with a shoot gun. Pratt, who was a man of some 56 years of age, had been for some time past, despondent over the loss of his wife, who died about two years ago, and beset with financial difficulties took a short way out. The details of the act showed that he had the matter fully planned. He took his position in the woodshed door, facing in, cocked the weapon, a 12-guage shotgun, pointed the muzzle at his throat and manipulated the trigger with a stick, in the end of which he driven a nail. Death was instantaneous, the body falling outside the building. He left a note asking that Plymouth lodge of Odd Fellows of Dexter, of which he was a member, be notified by his death. He is survived by a married daughter.
