Obituary
Services Held For Forrest Parsons Forrest Parsons, 97, holder of the gold-headed Boston Post cane as Dexter's oldest male resident, died Saturday at the local hospital where he had been cared for over two years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Crosby Funeral Home. The Rev. Hartwell Daley of the Waterville Methodist Church, who made many friendly calls on the aged man during his long hospitalization, conducted the service. Bearers were: Earl Parsons, Guilford; Henry Parsons, Harry Young and Frederic Hale, all of Dexter. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Mr. Parsons was born in Dexter, Sept. 29, 1858, the son of Henry C. and Susan Knowlton Parsons. His wife was the late Rose (Hodgkins) Parsons and they were parents of two daughters and a son. At one time Mr. Parsons operated his own hardware store where Kip's filling station is located, and for many years was employed in the George A. Dustin hardware store. He was a former member of Plymouth Lodge No. 65, I. O. O. F., Penobscot Lodge No. 39, A. F. & A. M., and the Knights of Phythias. Before his health failed, he always attended the Universalist Church. Survivors are a son, Earl Parsons of Guilford; a nephew, Henry Parsons, Dexter; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a grand nephew and a grand niece.
