Obituary	MRS. BERTHA RYAN BROWN There were prayers by the Rev. J. Robert Bath of the First Universalist Church at the grave in Mt. Pleasant cemetery at Dexter Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Bertha Ryan Brown, 76, who died Saturday in a Houlton convalescent home after a long period of failing health. Funeral services were held at the Mars Hill Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Charles Dartnell of Brewer officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ronald Stead of Easton. Friendship Chapt., 0. E. S., of Mars Hill conducted their service. The widow of Winfield Scott Brown of Mars Hill, she was born in Dexter, daughter of Mrs. Emma (Hatch) Ryan now of Corinna and the late George Ryan. She was a member of the Universalist Church of Dexter, a life member of Wassookeag Chapt. No. 44, O. E. S. Dexter; a founder and life member of Mars Hill Community Club, life member of Mars Hill Literary Club and an honorary member of the Sunshine Club, Dexter. She is survived by a son, W. Scott Brown, Jr., Moulton; a daughter, Mrs. John F. King, Montclair, N. J., her mother, Mrs. George Ryan, Corinna; a brother, Dr. Charles Ryan, Dexter; a sister, Mrs. Arcbibald Moore, Corinna, and five grandchildren. Bearers were: Frank Brown, Dr. Stephen Brown, T. R. York, G. R. Fenderson, Stetson Hussey and Ernest Warren.
