Obituary
In Saco, at the Trull hospital, June 12, after a very brief illness, Mrs. Maria Jones Mitchell passed to life beyond. Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of Harrison and Mary Jones, she was born in Ripley and spent her early life there, later going to Saco where she was married to S.S Mitchell who conducted a lucrative drug business. She lived in Saco many years, where she had a wide circle of friends but after the death of her husband she returned to her childhood home, where her brother, John Jones, resides. Mrs. Mitchell was a beautiful woman, to help others was her greatest enjoyment, and no sacrifice was ever too great for her to make, to add comfort to those around her. She was a companion to young and old alike, and a loyal friend to all. Her cheerful disposition and keen mind were with her to the last. A few days previous to her death she motored to Saco with her niece, Mrs. J.F. Hamilton. Before she entered the hospital she rode down to her cottage at Bay View, looed after some of her financial affairs in the same business-like way, as in the past. After entering the hospital she sent words of cheer home to the anxious ones. Everything was done for her that love and money could do but to no avail; she went into a peaceful sleep, never to wake on earth. She leaves to mourn her loss, in the old home her brother, John and a young man who has made his home there for twenty years; in Saco a devoted sister, Miss Carrie Jones, besides many nieces and nephew and host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 P.M. in Laurell Hill chapel. Interment was in Saco cemetery by the side of her husband. There was a profusion of flowers coming from Saco and Ripley.
